Two people arrested in human trafficking investigation: Niagara police

Two people have been arrested in a human trafficking investigation, Niagara police say.

Police say officers in the human trafficking unit began their investigation this month, with the help of the cyber-crimes unit and child abuse unit.

Two arrests were made on Wednesday.

Spencer Sloat, 20, of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual assault
  • Assault
  • Administering noxious thing
  • Forcible confinement
  • Trafficking in persons under 18 years old
  • Material benefit-trafficking of a person under 18 years
  • Material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years
  • Fail to comply with release order (2 Counts)

Carly Bluemeke, 28, of Fort Erie was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual assault
  • Administering noxious thing
  • Forcible confinement
  • Trafficking in persons under 18 years old
  • Material benefit-trafficking of a person under 18 years
  • Material benefit from sexual services provided by person under 18 years
  • Fail to comply with release order

Each has a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday.
