Rogers looks into banking

Rogers Communications says it’s going to apply to become a financial institution called Rogers bank.

It would focus on credit, payment, and charge-card services.

Rogers says the institution would have its headquarters in Toronto and would not expand into a full-service deposit-taking bank.

The application still has to be approved by the federal government.
