HAPPENING NOW:

Chemotherapy drug shortage

Health Canada is warning hospitals there could be a major shortage of chemotherapy drugs.

It stems from manufacturing problems at “Ben Venue Laboratories” in Ohio that could affect the quality of the drugs.

Their chemo medications are used to treat breast and ovarian cancer, and leukemia.

For now, Health Canada has arranged to allow “medically necessary” drugs into the country.

Fortunately, there are alternative treatments available for many of the effected products.
