Ontario Premier Doug Ford warned tougher restrictions may be coming as the province shattered another record for daily COVID-19 infections on Friday.

Ontario reports 4,249 cases of COVID-19, 26 deaths on Friday

Ford warns the surging cases are stretching hospital capacity and that could lead to more illnesses and deaths and called new COVID-19 projections that will be released next
week very concerning.

He said more “extreme” measures are possible if residents ignore public-heath rules aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, but he did not offer further details.

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath is calling on Ford to provide modelling details and slammed the premier for not imposing more stringent lockdown measures sooner.
