Brantford Police say the death of a woman earlier this year is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called to conduct a well-being check at a home on Mintern Ave. on Mar. 11. When they arrived, they located 37-year-old Shannon MacDougall dead inside.

Police say they’ve been working the the coroner’s office and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

In a media release sent over eight months after the discovery of her death, police say they are treating MacDougall’s death as a homicide.

This information was not released earlier “due to the manner in which police received the information,” said the media release.

Police say they don’t believe this is a random incident. No arrests have been made.

Police say they are looking to get information from anyone who may have had information about the victim and what she did in the days before Mar. 11.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-756-7050 ext 2206.
