Ontario reports 1,373 new COVID-19 cases, 35 deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,373 new cases of COVID-19 and 35 deaths.

The number of resolved cases outpaced new cases with another 1,476 cases marked as resolved. Almost 85 per cent of Ontario’s COVID-19 cases are marked as resolved.

Wednesday’s numbers come as the province’s auditor general released a report on the Ford government’s response to the pandemic, saying it was hampered by “delays and confusion in decision making.”

The province completed 36,076 tests.

The death toll sits at 3,554 people. Of the 35 deaths reported Wednesday, 22 were residents of long-term care homes.

There are 523 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province. There are 159 patients in ICU and 106 of them are on ventilators.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Six Nations: 2 active cases (as of Nov. 23)

Haldimand-Norfolk: 2 new cases, 35 active cases

Brant: 5 new cases, 67 active cases, 3 in hospital

Niagara: 16 new cases, 208 active cases, 2 deaths, 2 in hospital

Halton: 35 new cases, 521 active cases, 4 deaths, 25 in hospital

Hamilton: 25 new cases, 338 active cases, 22 in hospital

 

The province also reported 162 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario schools.
