Body found after multiple alarm house fire in Stoney Creek

Hamilton fire officials say a body has been found following a house fire in Stoney Creek.
Fire fighters were called to the house on Alpine Ave., near Centennial Pkwy. S and King St. E, around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
There were heavy flames and smoke and some areas of the home had collapsed.
At first, crews weren’t able to search the home but said they had reason to believe one person was inside.

In a press conference Tuesday morning, Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliffe said they had no reason to believe the fire was suspicious or criminal in nature.
Fire officials confirmed the discovery of a body around noon.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has taken over the investigation.
