Ontario reports 790 new COVID-19 cases, nine new deaths

Ontario is reporting 790 new cases of COVID-19 and nine new deaths.

Toronto, Peel, York and Ottawa made up over 75 per cent of the new cases.

Ontario is reporting 790 cases of #COVID19 as over 32,600 tests were completed. Locally, there are 321 new cases in Toronto, 157 in Peel, 76 in York Region and 57 in Ottawa. There are 719 more resolved cases.

These regions have all been moved back into a modified Stage 2, which prohibits indoor dining at restaurants and closes gyms and movie theatres.

The death toll now sits at 3,062, with two of the deaths reported Wednesday coming from long-term care homes.

The province has also marked another 719 cases as resolved.

There were 32,646 tests completed, while another 29,332 are backlogged and remain under investigation.

Hospitalization numbers have dropped to 260, down from 272 reported on Tuesday.

The number of people in ICU is at 71, with 49 of those on ventilators.

Haldimand-Norfolk: 3 new cases, 10 active cases

Brant: 1 new case, 19 active cases

Niagara: 10 new cases, 81 active cases, 4 in hospital

Halton: 25 new cases, 227 active cases, 6 in hospital

Hamilton: 26 new cases, 152 active cases, 6 in hospital

The city is also reporting several new outbreaks, including at St. Joseph’s Villa, ArcelorMittal East End, Foot Locker at Lime Ridge Mall and Flynn Canada.

Another 144 new cases were reported in the province’s schools.
