Niagara Region begins bi-weekly garbage collection next week

Niagara Region is beginning its transition to every-other-week garbage collection.

The region’s new waste collection contracts start Monday Oct. 19.

Garbage collection will happen between Oct. 19 to Oct. 23 in:

• ​Fort Erie
• Niagara-on-the-Lake
• Pelham
• St. Catharines
• Thorold
• Wainfleet
• West Lincoln

Garbage will not be picked up in these communities again until the week of Nov. 2.

These communities will receive garbage collection the week of Oct. 19 – 23:

• ​Grimsby
• Lincoln
• Niagara Falls
• Port Colborne
• Welland

Residents will be able to put out two garbage containers, either cans or bags, on their garbage collection day.

Recycling, green bin and yard waste will continue to be picked up weekly.

There will also be changes to large item pickup.
