Ontario reports 721 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

Ontario is reporting 721 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths.

Toronto and Peel continue to lead the province in new cases.

The number of resolved cases outpaced new ones, according to numbers released Wednesday.

Another 783 cases have been marked as resolved.

The death toll remained steady at 3,017.

There are 5,884 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.

The province completed 32,206 tests. Another 26,558 tests are backlogged.

One more person was hospitalized, bringing the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital to 231.

There are 64 people in intensive care and 35 of those patients are on ventilators.

While the province reported no new deaths on Wednesday, public health units in Halton and Niagara reported one new death each.

Six Nations of the Grand River says it’s dealing with a surge in confirmed COVID-19 cases.

On Wednesday, it said it had 14 active and 33 probable cases of the virus in the community.
