Close to six years and $145 million later, Tim Horton’s Field is already in need of repair.

The city’s public works department is recommending that the city spend $1.1 million to repair and/or replace the perimeter end guards that surround the entire upper bowl and keep fans from falling out of the stadium.

The group’s findings follow yearly inspections that were implemented after a 150-pound speaker detached and fell onto the stands below in 2016. These inspections spotted various issues within the stadium, including the guards

Despite the city taking full possession of the site in 2015, some councillors want the province, particularly infrastructure Ontario, to foot the bill.

Council opted to defer their decision until a report is shared at the next GIC meeting on September 23rd.
