Port Colborne restricts Nickel Beach and Cedar Bay Beach to locals only

Access to two Port Colborne beaches has been restricted to locals only.
Nickel Beach and Cedar Bay Beach will require proof of residency to get in as of Friday.
The decision comes after ongoing issues with overcrowding and garbage.
The beach will be open Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday to Sunday: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There is public access to washroom facilities and hand sanitation stations. Staff have increased the number of garbage cans.
There will be a limit for total capacity to ensure people can safely distance.
Residents can purchase a season pass for parking or pay $15 per day (Monday – Friday) and $20 per day (Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays).
Beach-goers can walk to the beach for free.
The beach is open everyday from from dawn until dusk.
Security will be checking identification.
The city says bylaw staff will be increasing patrols and will be getting additional support from Niagara Regional Police.
Locals will be able to bring up to two non-resident adults with them or unlimited out-of-town guests under the age of 15.
