Protesters at Caledonia housing development

A group from Six Nations has shut down construction at a Caledonia housing development.

About a dozen protesters have taken over the site on McKenzie Rd. since Sunday.

They’ve hung a sign that reads “Landback” on a piece of construction equipment.

Supporters of the protest say there’s been a lack of transparency and community consultation in this and other projects.

CHCH News was told the group doesn’t have the support of the Six Nations Band Council.

The site is being developed by Losani Homes.

The company says the project is proceeding with the full support of the Six Nations elected council.
