Hamilton Police campaign targets speeding and excessive noise

Hamilton Police have issued more than 100 tickets as part of a campaign targeting speed and excessive noise.
Police began “Project PIT STOP” on July 3, focusing on the area of Queenston Rd. between Centennial Parkway and the Red Hill Valley Parkway.
There have been several complaints about drivers racing around the city, creating unsafe driving conditions and excessive noise.
After two weekends of increased enforcement, Hamilton Police say they’ve issued 104 tickets for things like stunt driving, speeding and improper muffler.
One driver was clocked going 115km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.
There have also been 33 more serious driving offences including stunt driving(wheelies, burnouts, fishtails), unsafe vehicle and driving while under suspension.
Police have also seized 15 vehicles and laid nine criminal charges.
“Project PIT STOP” wraps up this weekend.
But police say they are planning a second enforcement campaign later this summer.
