Two men have been arrested in a series of break-and-enters in Stoney Creek.

Police say several businesses were broken into in late June.

The thieves targeted catalytic converters on large vehicles, power tools and equipment including riding lawn mowers.

Officers say they arrested two men as they attempted a break-in on June 26.

Justin Hopkins, 36, from Waterford and James McGowan, 36, from Niagara Falls were arrested.

They’re each facing two counts of break and enter and one charge of possession of burglary tools.

Police anticipate more charges.

They recovered about $10,000 worth of stolen property.
