Toronto makes face masks mandatory in public indoor settings

Toronto has approved a temporary bylaw making masks mandatory when in a public indoor setting.
The proposed bylaw was voted on by city council Tuesday afternoon.
The order will come into effect in a week, on July 7.
Mississauga and Brampton plan to follow suit.
This comes a day after mayors from the GTHA came together to urge Premier Doug Ford to develop a consistent approach to mask-wearing in the province.
“In terms of general masking it would be really helpful if the province would make that one of their requirements, especially indoors and in stores,” Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger told on Morning Live on Tuesday morning.
Ford said it would be difficult to mandate across the province, but that municipalities have the authority to do so.
