McMaster professor charged with sexually assaulting student

A McMaster University professor has been charged with sexually assaulting a student.

Police say the allegation dates back to 2017.

Scott Watter, 46, was arrested on June 18.

He has been charged with sexual assault and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

McMaster University says Watter was suspended and barred from the school in February.

His lawyer tells CHCH News that he remains on a non-disciplinary leave of absence with no loss of pay.

Police say there could be other victims.
