Rallies across Ontario are taking place to protest anti-black and anti-indigenous racism.

Rallies in Niagara Falls, Hamilton, and Toronto came following the death of 29-year-old Regis Korchinski-Paquet, who fell from her 24th-floor balcony in Toronto while police were in her home on Wednesday.

Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating her death.

A lawyer representing her relatives says her family members don’t want violence in the wake of her death, only answers as to how and why she died.

The death has sparked questions from the woman’s family and local politicians about the role of police officers in the incident.
