Another driver nabbed for stunt driving in Hamilton

Another driver has been charged with stunt driving in Hamilton, as speeders continue to take advantage of lighter traffic on local streets.

Officers were conducting speed enforcement in the area of King St. and Macklin St. North on Thursday.

Police pulled over a man who was going 120 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The 31-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving and other speeding offences.

His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his licence suspended for the same amount of time.

The charges come less than a week after Hamilton police completed Project Recalibrate. The campaign aimed to educate the public on dangerous driving and to curb the recent speeding trend on Hamilton’s roads.

The city has seen a 23 per cent increase in stunt driving since the province declared a State of Emergency on March 17.

Over the course of two weeks, Hamilton police laid 805 charges including 637 for speeding and 24 for stunt driving.
