Ontario reports 399 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday

Ontario is reporting 399 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and 48 more deaths.

The province says the total number of resolved cases has risen to 13,569, which represents 71 per cent of all cases.

More than 19,000 cases have been reported and 1,477 people have died in Ontario since Jan. 15.

There are now more than 1,000 people in hospital with COVID-19, with 220 people in intensive care units. Of those patients, 155 are on a ventilator to assist with breathing.

Nearly 60 per cent of COVID-19 patients have been female and more than 40 per cent of total cases are people who are 60 years of age or older. Thirty per cent are between 40 and 49 years of age, 23 per cent are between 20 and 39 years of age and 2.5 per cent are under the age of 19.

Two more outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes, bringing the provincial total to 225.

The province says 380,854 tests have been completed since the beginning of the outbreak. Just over 15,000 tests were done on Wednesday and 13,012 are still under investigation.
