1 man dead after house fire in Port Colborne

A man pulled from a burning home in Port Colborne on Monday has succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.
Emergency crews were called out to the home near McCain Street and Fielden Avenue shortly before 2 p.m.
Niagara police reported seeing a man trapped on a roof when they first arrived.
A woman who had just escaped the blaze had managed to find a ladder and was in the process of helping him down.
The two residents then informed authorities that a third person was still inside.
Fire crews entered the house and managed to get the man out.

In an update Wednesday, Niagara police say a 32-year-old man succumbed to his injuries from the fire and died in hospital.
Officials are estimating there to be nearly $250,000 in damages.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fire alongside the Ontario Fire Marshall.
