Two Hamilton men have pleaded guilty to charges in connection to the shooting that killed 17-year-old Myah Larmond in the summer of 2020.

On Monday, Devante Skye-Davis pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and Cadence Beauparlant pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized possession of a loaded firearm.

Both men will undergo sentencing later this year.

Beauparlant is scheduled for Feb. 20 and Skye-Davis is scheduled for May 3.

On July 16, 2020, Larmond was found by police outside a home on St. Matthews Avenue with a gunshot wound shortly after 4 a.m.

She was transported to hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Skye-Davis was arrested at the scene and Beauparlant fled. Beauparlant was found a short while later and arrested.

Both were initially charged with manslaughter.

Detectives at the time said that the evidence surrounding the shooting supported “an element of carelessness and recklessness by the accused.”

Following his initial arrest, Skye-Davis was released on a conditional bail order but was later re-arrested by authorities after he had breached it.

A publication ban remains in effect for the case.
