Peel police have charged a man from St. Catharines who they say was contacting children online through social media.

An investigation from the department’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, spanning back to August of 2023, found an unknown user had been using social media to reach out to youths “for a sexual purpose.”

Police were able to identify the user as 62-year-old Steven Waterman, and charged him in November.

Waterman is facing charges for his luring attempts and a breach of a prohibition order.

Police believe there may be additional victims that he may have attempted to contact.

Authorities say he used several aliases on social media, including:

  • “Steven.Waterman”
  • “guyfrmont”
  • “guyfrmont2914’
  • “STC”
  • “Niagara”
  • “Niagara_1”
  • “twinkluvont”

The investigation remains ongoing and authorities are asking anyone wit any information relating to the case to contact detectives by calling 905-453-2121.
