Botanical train exhibit returns to the Royal Botanical Gardens

Nature lovers and train enthusiasts gathered at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington on Sunday to get their eyes on the returning botanical train exhibit.

The exhibit features huge planters made from almost 700kg of cedar that are filled with 2,500 plants.

The plants offer a seasonal backdrop for seven different lines of model train tracks.

The trains travel through scale models of iconic Canadian landmarks, which are entirely made from plant materials.

The botanical train exhibit is open until Jan. 7, but briefly closes for holidays on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
