Hamilton police seek ‘suspicious’ man approaching youth at school

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a “suspicious” man who allegedly approached a 10-year-old at an elementary school.

Police say the interaction happened in the area of Melrose Avenue North and Cannon Street East at 3 p.m. on Monday.

The child was allegedly approached by a stranger claiming to pick them up from school.

Police say the child sensed that something was off and walked away. The unknown man was last seen heading south on Lottridge Street towards King Street East.

Officers say the incident was not reported at the time.

The suspect is described as white, with short blonde hair and around six-foot-tall. He has tattoos on both hand, ear, nose and possibly lip piercing’s.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue coat and grey sweatpants.
