Search on for suspect in attempted armed robberies in Beamsville

Niagara police are searching for the suspect in two attempted armed robberies at businesses in Beamsville Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were called to the Coastal Kitchen Bar and Home Hardware on King Street around 3:45 p.m.
Initial investigations found that a man entered the businesses within a few minutes of each other, brandishing a black handgun and demanding money.
When he did not receive any money, he walked northbound to Central Avenue.
There have been no physical injuries reported by employees in either store.

Police say that out of an abundance of caution, local childcare facilities were placed into a hold and secure until officers could search the area.
The search conducted by police and the NRPS K9 unit did not lead to the suspect being located and officers are continuing to look to identify the man.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 35-years-old, six-feet-tall and around 175 pounds. There is no suspect photo available at this time.
