No injures after car crashes through gate at Burlington school

No one was injured at an elementary school in Burlington Friday morning when a vehicle drove onto school property and crashed through a gate.

Halton police say the incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. at Makwendam Public School at 565 Woodview Rd.

Police say the collision was related to a stolen auto investigation and has nothing to do with any current world events.

Witnesses allege seeing the vehicle enter school property and drive on a walking path before smashing through a gate (Duane Worth/CHCH News).

“We can confirm that nobody, including children, school staff, other members of the public, or police officers were targeted or harmed,” a representative for Halton police told CHCH News.

The driver has been taken into custody and the school day continued as scheduled.
