Hamilton police identify man who died after city hall encampment fight in September

Hamilton police have identified a 33-year-old man who died in hospital after a fight at an encampment near city hall last month.

With the consent of his family, officers confirm that Tyler Hayden Robitaille is the homicide victim.

Investigators say Robitaille was found bleeding and unconscious around 3 a.m. on Sept. 27 near MacNab and Jackson streets.

Det. Sgt. Jason Cattle has said that detectives believe there was an altercation at the encampment before Robitaille ran away and collapsed in front of YWCA Hamilton on MacNab Street.

Paramedics then transported him to hospital, where he later died of his injury.

Police have yet to release the cause of his death.

No charges have been laid at this time.

Officers say they are aware of people who have crucial information regarding this investigation.
