1 man dead following Kayak accident at Burlington Beach

One man has died after a kayaking accident at Burlington Beach Sunday night.
The Halton Police Marine Unit was called to the beach around 8:40 p.m. for reports that a kayaker had fallen into the water and could not be found.
Officers were able to find the man around 75 meters from shore around 9 p.m. that night.

The victim was discovered without vital signs and was rushed to Joseph Brant Hospital where he would be pronounced as deceased.
Halton police say that there was only one person on the kayak, however the victim was at the beach with family and friends who were the ones that made the initial call to emergency responders.
The identity of the victim has not been confirmed, although police say he was a man in his 30s.
Those heading out to the water are reminded to always wear a life-jacket and to avoid the risk of activities that involve swimming beyond one’s capabilities.
