Man in critical condition after stabbing at Hamilton encampment

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help following a stabbing in a Hamilton park over the weekend.

Police responded to reports of a serious assault shortly before 12 p.m. on Saturday at Woodlands Park on Barton St. East.

Upon arrival, police found a 37-year-old man without vital signs. Officers say the man was taken to hospital, underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition but stable.

Witnesses say the incident took place after an argument broke out. A man who didn’t want to be identified told CHCH News the victim was his friend, known as K-dog and tried to help.

“My friend was bleeding out in front of me so I ran and grabbed my med kit and we tried to do what any normal person would do, which is keep the wound closed.” The man said.

Anyone with homes or businesses near Woodlands Park is asked to check surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday and to contact police at 905 546-3833 for any information.
