Bill Lawrence, local TV legend, passes away at 91

Bill Lawrence passed away from a heart attack while in the hospital on Friday night.

Many of our viewers may remember Lawrence as the host of the original “Tiny Talent Time,” right here on CHCH.

His longtime friend and former co-worker, Don Pilcher, remembers Bill as a gentleman.

“Bill was a very personal friend. I’ve known him for more than 70 years. He means just about everything to me in terms of a personal friend.” Pilcher said.

Lawrence created children’s programs well before shows like Sesame Street.

For 35 years, he hosted and co-produced “Tiny Talent Time,” the second longest-running Canadian tv show that often had more viewers than NFL broadcasts.
