Hamilton police arrest man accused of waving knife at people

Police have arrested a man accused of making stabbing motions with a knife at people in downtown Hamilton early Thursday morning.
Officers received multiple calls shortly before 8 a.m. of a man with a knife in the area of Hughson St. and King St. East.
Police told the man to drop the knife when they found him in the area of James and King streets.

Officers say the man responded by walking towards them with the knife in his hand.
James Rankin, 37, was then arrested at gun point for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and disobeying a court order.
