Strong winds cause house to collapse in Fort Erie, no injuries: police

Niagara police reported a house collapse in Fort Erie Monday after a 80 to 90 foot tree fell onto a home due to extremely high winds.

Police responded to a call involving a collapsed house on MacDonald Dr. near Stonemill Rd. shortly after 1 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found the large tree fallen onto the home, causing significant damage to the structure.

No physical injuries have been reported despite the home being occupied at the time.

Police in the area reported extremely high winds followed by a hail storm moments before receiving the call.

The scene is currently being managed by the Fort Erie Fire Department.
