Major winter storm sweeps into Hamilton region

Hamilton region is being pounded by some of the heaviest snow and highest winds so far of the major winter storm that swept into our region today.
This storm arrived right on schedule as the snow started falling at mid-morning, with heavy snow expected throughout the day.
The storm is part of a massive system stretching across much of eastern North America.
Schools were open for the day, although some afternoon school buses were cancelled, and some city services were cancelled into the evening.
In all, we could get a total of 20 or 25 centimeters of snow before this is all over tomorrow, January 26.
Environment Canada says we’re heading for a stretch of cold weather, meaning this snow may not melt quickly.
