A blaze at a townhome on Hamilton’s west mountain Monday evening was upgraded to a multiple-alarm fire as flames climbed to the second storey.

Hamilton Fire responded shortly before 6 p.m. to the townhome located at 125 Bonaventure Dr., near Garth St. and Limeridge Rd.

First arriving crews discovered an exterior fire on the outside walls of the building that went up into the second floor of two units.

The call was upgraded to a multiple alarm due to the number of potential exposures.

Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Shawn De Jager said the fire was quickly extinguished and crews performed overhaul and checked for any extensions of fire throughout the building. There were no significant physical injuries reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time and the dollar loss was listed at $250,000 in total.
