27th John C. Holland Awards applications open for students in Hamilton

Hamilton’s Black History Council (HBHC) is taking applications for the 27th Reverend John C. Holland Awards.

The award will give students of Caribbean and African descent a chance to receive a scholarship or bursary up to $1,500.

To enter, students will need to provide a transcript, letter of recommendation, and a personal statement.

The deadline is Dec. 22 at midnight. Successful applicants will be announced at an awards ceremony on Feb. 4, 2023.

Since 1996, the HBHC has provided over 300 scholarships and awards.

A release from the organization says they recognize and celebrate the educational, extra curricular, and community achievements of black youth in the Hamilton area.
