OPP charge teen for driving 239 km/h on QEW in Stoney Creek

A 19-year-old has been charged with stunt driving after they were caught travelling 239 km/h on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Stoney Creek.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the driver didn’t realize they were “going so fast” when they were speeding 129 km/h over the limit.
The normal posted speed limit on the highway is 110 km/h.

This is the second time in two weeks that OPP have charged a teenager for driving a significant amount over the speed limit.
An 18-year-old Mississauga driver was charged after they were also caught travelling more than 230 km/h on Highway 403 in Brant County two weekends ago.
OPP say Somtochukwu Chijioke Okonkwo is facing five charges, including dangerous operation and failure to surrender insurance card.
Police say the driver’s licence of the teen has been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for two weeks.
