Police lay multiple charges against 2 men caught stealing car in Oakville

Two men from Mississauga face a number of charges after trying to steal a car in Oakville.
Halton Regional Police responded to a southwest neighbourhood early Monday morning after receiving a call about suspicious activity happening near a parked vehicle.
Officers discovered two male suspects at the scene and arrested them.
During a search of the suspects’ vehicle, police found two handguns, large amounts of money, and tools consistent with reprogramming-style auto thefts.
Numerous Land Rover and Jaguar GPS devices were also uncovered and police believe these devices have been removed from vehicles targeted for theft.
Moonir Hussun, 32 of Mississauga and Fahad Rasheed, 28, of Mississauga have been charged with the following:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of break-in instrument
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Two counts of careless use of a firearm
- Two counts of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Two counts of possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
Additionally, Hussun has been charged with failure to comply with release order and possession of schedule 1 substance (oxycodone).
Both Hussun and Rasheed were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
