Cyclist struck, killed by truck after falling off bike on Niagara Parkway

A cyclist in Niagara is dead after falling off his bike and then being struck by an oncoming truck. The accident happened along the Niagara Parkway near Whirlpool River Park Saturday morning. This marks the second death in Niagara involving a collision in the last two days.

Niagara police investigators, the forensics team, and Niagara Parks officers were on scene investigating this morning. A Ryder truck was held at the scene along the Niagara Parkway near Victoria Avenue.

People CHCH News spoke with say the man who died was with a group ride for a cancer charity.

Witnesses in their car say traffic was moving quite slow at the time of the incident, one driver described the flow of traffic as moving somewhere between 15 to 20 kilometers.

Yesterday afternoon also in Niagara Falls police said a woman was struck by a car at McLeod Road and Pin Oak Drive. The woman died on scene and the vehicle struck a pole and brought down live electrical wires.

Earlier in the day yesterday, a child was hit by a car in St. Catharines and was then transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Niagara police continue to investigate.
