UPDATE: Halton police say the suspect was taken into police custody on the Hamilton border on York Blvd by Halton police. In total three people were shot in Milton, one has since been pronounced dead, and two remain in hospital. Two others were shot in Peel where a Toronto police officer was killed.

EARLIER:

Peel Police have issued a provincial alert for an active shooter in Southern Ontario. At least 5 shot in 2 locations: Mississauga and Milton. Reports 1 dead includes a Toronto Police officer.

Peel police and Halton police are looking for a suspect involved in two separate shootings that have sent at least 5 people to the hospital.

Police confirm three people have been shot at Milton near a commercial plaza. This is following a shooting by the same suspect in Mississauga near Argentia Road and Churchill Boulevard injuring two people. One has been sent to the trauma unit.

Police say the three shot in Milton have been taken to hospital.

The suspect was last seen heading off Highway 407 towards Hamilton.

Peel Regional Police are seeking a black Jeep Cherokee with license plate # CLMZ 905. Police say the driver is armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as black, thin build, and wearing a yellow construction vest.
