Ontario scraps mandatory 5-day isolation period for COVID-19

Ontario is scrapping the mandatory five-day isolation period for people who test positive for COVID-19. Meaning people testing positive for covid can go back to school or work.
The change is part of new guidelines released by the chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore today.
If you have COVID-19 or any respiratory virus symptoms chief medical officer of health says you should stay home until your symptoms are improving for 24 hours.
Dr. Moore is also advising anyone with a fever to stay home until the fever is done. He says everyone with symptoms should wear a mask in public for ten days after the onset.
Liberal party health critic Dr. Adil Shamji thinks Dr. Moore is making a mistake, given the current crisis in the healthcare system.
“We’ve got ERs closing, ICUs closing, nearly 1,400 people admitted in hospital right now with COVID-19 and we’re not even in respiratory season yet,” Dr. Shamji said.
Dr. Moore also announced kids between the ages of five and 11 will now be able to book a covid booster shot.
