Haldimand County Paramedic dead following Jet Ski accident

Haldimand County paramedic Ria Vannoort is dead following a Jet Ski accident in the United States this weekend.
The Niagara County sheriff’s office in New York state says Vannoort died while riding a Jet Ski on Lake Ontario Saturday evening in an area between Wilson and Olcott, New York. Police say she was there with family and friends at a cottage getaway.
33-year-old Vannoort is remembered by family and friends are a positive force and a devoted mother.
Chief Deputy Aaron Schultz says first responders tried to save her on scene but then she was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Schultz says it’s still unclear how Vannoort died but she was wearing a life jacket and had no visible signs of traumatic injuries.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation has not found anything criminal tied to the incident and is awaiting autopsy results.
