Hamilton International Airport says they are seeing a strong start to summer and add they expect to see pre-pandemic levels of travellers arriving and departing through the rest of the year.

Flyers say they are looking to beat the challenges in places like Toronto’s Pearson Airport which is marred with numerous cancellations and delays over the past weeks.

Today most travellers are using Swoop, one of three low-cost carriers operating in Mount Hope, including newcomer Lynx Air who also had cancellations this week.

Lynx Air tells CHCH News, “Lynx’s operations have been impacted by the late arrival of a new aircraft, which has been delayed by over a month. The airline has been leasing aircraft from other airlines to minimize any disruption to flights.”

Hamilton International Airport says from now to December, they expect to see approximately 94 per cent of traffic seen in 2019, which is nearly a million people coming through.
