Ontario Provincial Police are thanking five men for rescuing a man from a burning vehicle on the QEW in Mississauga earlier this week.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the westbound QEW at Cawthra Rd. on Monday.

OPP tweeted a video of the incident Wednesday showing the vehicle swerving while smoke is coming from it. The vehicle then crashed into a ditch.

Five men pulled over to help the 36-year-old driver escape from the vehicle on fire.

The video shows one man using a hammer to smash the window on the driver’s side.

The men were able to open the door and take the driver out of the burning vehicle. Police said the driver did not suffer any injuries.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames shortly after.
