200 Halton students build tiny homes for First Nations community

Over 200 students from across Halton built five tiny homes this school year at a cost of around $100,000 each. The homes are in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and will be sent to a First Nations community in the Bruce Peninsula.
The tiny homes are only 230 square feet but they are fully equipped with a kitchen, a bathroom, and a main living area which is also the bedroom.
Two of the tiny homes will be for emergency housing and three will be someone’s permanent house, either for a couple or a single person in the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.
All five tiny homes will be delivered over the summer, Habitat for Humanity plans on continuing the relationship with the schools to build more tiny homes.
