Heat warning in effect for Hamilton

Hamilton has initiated a heat warning today that will stay in effect for two days.

Temperatures on both Tuesday and Wednesday will reach the low to possibly mid thirties (degrees Celsius). Temperatures Tuesday night and Wednesday night in the low twenties will provide little relief from the heat.

The city says cooler air is expected to arrive by Thursday.

There are a few ways people will be able to beat the heat over the next few days. The city is offering “cool places.” These locations can be identified by a “Cool Down Here” sign at the entrance.

As part of the heat response plan, the city also has regularly scheduled Open Swims at all city indoor pools, free of charge.

The city is warning residents to be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion. This includes heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale and clammy skin, weak pulse, fainting and vomiting.
