Truck leaks hydrochloric acid on Highway 406 in St. Catharines

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 406 involving a transport truck that leaked hydrochloric acid.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says a transport truck carrying 9,000 kg of hydrochloric acid started to deteriorate.
Highway 406 between Glendale and Westchester is closed. The acid will need to be offloaded and cleaned up before the highway can be reopened.

According to St. Catharines Fire Service, the southbound 406 is now open, but the northbound remains closed until around 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
