The director of education and secretary of the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) is stepping down from his post.

Pat Daly announced at a board meeting on Tuesday that his final day will be July 31.

As of Aug. 1, he will be the new principal at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto.

“It has been a privilege to serve the Halton Catholic community and work alongside so many talented and dedicated staff in each of my roles with this Board,” Daly said.

“I want to thank the board of trustees for their support throughout my tenure, and extend a special note of gratitude to the members of the leadership team at HCDSB for their guidance, their absolute commitment and their hard work.”

Daly has been a Catholic educator for more than 33 years. He began his career in 1989 as a secondary school teacher with HCDSB, and for the next 25 years, he was promoted to a variety of roles, including department head, secondary school vice-principal and secondary school principal.

In 2015, Daly became superintendent of education for Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board.

He returned to the HCDSB in 2018 as the board’s seventh director of education.

The HCDSB board of trustees will begin its search to fill his position in the coming weeks.
