Police warn of spike in catalytic converter thefts in Halton Hills, Milton

Halton police are noticing a spike in catalytic converter thefts in Halton Hills and Milton.
While the trend is happening across North America, investigators said a significant number of thefts have occurred in the Halton region with 29 stolen since March 1.
Officers said thieves are mainly targeting vehicles parked in quiet industrial lots and at large apartment buildings. Almost all thefts occur overnight and on weekends.
Police are doing targeted patrols in industrial areas, self-storage units and parking lots, but are advising vehicle owners to park in locked, well-lit areas.
