Capacity limits now lifted at Ontario restaurants, gyms, cinemas

Capacity limits in many Ontario settings have now lifted as the province moves into the next phase of its reopening plan.
Starting Thursday, restaurants, gyms and cinemas that must screen patrons for vaccination against COVID-19 have no limits on capacity.
Social gatherings and public events can include up to 50 people indoors and outdoor social gatherings can have up to 100 people. Organized events have no limit on the number of people if they are held outdoors.
Sports arenas and theatres can open to half capacity while settings deemed higher risk like nightclubs and sex clubs can open to 25 per cent capacity.
The province announced last week that capacity limits were being lifted earlier than expected in light of improving COVID-19 indicators.
Ontario’s chief medical health officer, Dr. Kieran Morre, is expected to hold a news conference at 3 p.m. to provide an update on COVID-19.
